John F. Murray, Sr.
Age 86, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Foulk Manor South in Wilmington.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 7, 1927. He was the son of the late Joseph H. and Edith E. Murray.
John was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. John later drove 33 years for Wooleyhan Transport Co. and then 18 years at the DMV Lanes on Airport Road.
He was a 50 year member of the Archbishop Fitzmaurice Group Wilmington Men of Malvern.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mongillo Murray; and his brother, Henry and his wife Marion. He is survived by his sons, John Jr. and his wife Diana of Newark, and Kevin of Wilmington; his daughters, Robin of Wilmington, and Roxanne of Georgetown, DE; and grandson, Daniel of Newark.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass at St. Thomas R. C. Church, 4 th St. & Bancroft Pkwy., on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11 am. Friends may call at the church Friday morning from 10-11 am. Entombment at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
