Jorge Arroyo Gonzalez

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jorge Arroyo Gonzalez, age 76, on February 16, 2025. Born on May 29, 1948, he was predeceased by his parents, Maria González and Genaro Arroyo. Jorge was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a cherished friend to many. His life was marked by unwavering love for his family, his community, and his faith.

Jorge is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Arroyo of 55; his children, Marisol and David Arroyo; daughter in law Brenda Olivo and his grandchildren, David Arroyo, Alexandra Arroyo, and Keishla Montijo. He is also survived by his siblings Lillian Arroyo and Carmelo Arroyo, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by seven siblings, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

For 42 years, Jorge worked as a dedicated maintenance worker at the Wilmington Housing Authority, where he was known for his hard work and commitment to the community. Additionally, for over 20 years, Jorge worked a second job at Star Janitorial Services, where he continued to demonstrate his work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.

Jorge was also a faithful member of the Tower of Prayer Christian Center, where his kindness and generosity of spirit touched the lives of many. His favorite Bible chapter was Psalm 23. He had a passion for growing vegetables, and his love of nature was evident in the care he gave to his yard. He enjoyed sitting on his porch, chatting with neighbors, and offering a helping hand whenever someone needed it. An avid car enthusiast, Jorge spent hours tending to his car, a project that gave him great satisfaction. He was also a self proclaimed meteorologist always sharing his views on the weather.

Above all, Jorge treasured spending time with his family and friends. He was a constant source of support, offering comfort and care during times of hardship. His warmth, humility, and dedication to others will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A public viewing will be held at Krienen - Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE, on February 25, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The service will follow at 12:00 PM, with burial at Silverbrook Cemetery immediately afterward.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
