Joseph L. Hawkins
Age 85 of Wilmington
Passed away on January 27, 2025.
Joe was born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Lonnie and Sophia (Czoch) Hawkins. He attended St. Elizabeth Grade School and was a proud 1957 graduate of Wilmington High.
Joe spent his 30-year career working for Coca-Cola. He was a dedicated employee starting as a warehouse attendant and retiring manager.
He was an energetic, funny, and loving soul. Joe enjoyed the little things in life. Nothing was better than taking a long walk, reading the Philadelphia Inquirer, and listening to WIP Sports Radio. He was an avid supporter of all the Philadelphia teams but most of all he was a die-hard Notre Dame Football Fan. Joe was a dog lover and was happiest when he had man's best friends curled up at his feet.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Hawkins; his siblings, Ben Hawkins (Pat) and Mary Ann Hawkins; and his brother-in-law, John R. Bartkowski.
Joe will be dearly missed by his sister and caretaker, Theresa Bartkowski; his devoted nephew, Paul Hawkins; and several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his four-legged nephew, Boomer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Tues, Feb 4 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:00am. Interment will take place at Lawncroft Cemetery privately.
