In 1967, he joined the American International Group working exclusively in the international market. During the 35 years he was employed by AIG, he worked in over 50 countries. He served in various management roles as vice-president and ended a distinguished career in Dubai as Regional Vice President.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers, Jim Prendergast and Fred Prendergast.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Peggy Ableman; his sister-in-law, Maureen Prendergast; his nieces, Sinead and Julie; as well as his "Bloody Mongrel" Reba, whom he adored.
