Joseph F. Temple
Age 70 of New Castle
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 10, 2024.
Joe was one of seven children born to the late George C Temple Sr. and Elizabeth Marie (Pyle) Temple. He grew up in New Castle and was a proud 1972 graduate of William Penn High School. Shortly after graduation, Joe went to work for DuPont. He remained a dedicated employee throughout his over 35-year career.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Temple) Crossan; his siblings, George C. Temple Jr. (Patricia), Susan Williams; and his brother-in-law, Michael Russell.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Joann Temple; his daughter, Kirsten Costango (Brandon); his grandchildren, David Crossan Jr., Samuel Crossan, Joseph Costango, William Crossan, Thomas Costango, Elizabeth Costango, and Jack Crossan; and his son-in-law, David Crossan Sr. (Amber). He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Russell, Harry Temple (Rose), and Steven Temple, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joe's favorite pastime was yard work. His landscaping skills, green thumb and general enjoyment of the outdoors made his yard the envy of the neighborhood. When he wasn't perfecting his lawn, Joe was tinkering with a fix it project. He was a self-described jack of all trades, and to his credit he did have the incredible ability to fix anything that was broken. Joe enjoyed traveling, visiting many places near and far, and enjoyed seeing the beauty of the world around him, and what it had to offer. He may have been a soft-spoken man, however he had very passionate political views/ideals that he held dear to himself. But most of all, Joe loved his family. Joe would never miss a grandchild's sports game, or the opportunity to help out with a school project. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Joe at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE, on Monday, November 18. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM for visitation and services to begin at 11:00AM. The burial will take place at Glebe Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Joe's name to the National Brain Tumor Society and/or Helen Graham Cancer Center.
