Karen Mae Rhoades
Age 71 of New Castle
Passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023.
Karen was born to the late Harley J. and Nellie (Hickey) Parkes. She was a hard worker for her entire life. She was employed at several restaurant working in many different capacities. But most of all, she loved caring for children. She was not only a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother to her own family but also a doting nanny to many other children.
Karen's words to live by " I pray that you will all miss and love me so that you too will give yourselves to God. Learn to walk with Him, so that we can all walk together on Heaven's Golden Streets."
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by husband, Bobby Rhoades; her son, Dwight Scott; and her brother, Harley Parkes, Jr.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Dave (Linda), Joe (Amy), and Tug (Reenie); her 21 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren. Karen is also survived by her brother, Timmy (Chun), her sister in law, Patty Parkes, many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service for Karen at New City Church, 201 Hawthorne Dr., Wilmington, DE 19802, on Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Karen's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
