Kevin Patrick Leahy, age 59, passed away suddenly on 5/23/18 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving wife, family, and friends.
Kevin was the son of Jerry and Joan Leahy. He was born and raised in Newark, Delaware where he played and excelled at youth sports. He was a graduate of Newark High School. Kevin was a proud employee of the Chrysler plant in Newark for 30 years. Upon the plants closing, Kevin went back to school and became a registered nurse. He then pursued a career at Meadowwood Behavioral Health Hospital.
Kevin was a devoted husband to Kim Leahy, with whom he shared an undeniable love. He was a dedicated and loving father that took great pride in raising his 8 children. He had a passion for the outdoors and was at most peace while hiking the mountains, sitting on the beach with his wife, or taking a walk with his grandkids. Above all else Kevin will be remembered for being a selfless man who was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a man that genuinely cared for everyone he encountered in life.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother, Joan. He is survived by his wife, Kim; sons, Kyle (Beth), Rich (Amanda), Dillon, Dylan, Chris; daughters, Caitlin, Cara (Mike), and Brianna; grandchildren, Annabelle, Jackson, Aiden, Jackson Dean, Kellan, and Aria; his father, Jerry; siblings, Maureen (Rich), Shawn, Jerry Jr (Karen), Eileen; and his many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home.
