In Loving Memory of Kim Kegelman,
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly Ann Dougherty Kegelman, a devoted wife, an adoring mother, and the heart of her family, who left this world too soon on March 1, 2025 at the age of 62.
Born into a large and loving Irish-Italian family, Kim carried the traditions of warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She never missed a birthday, no matter how long the list grew, making everyone feel special with a call, a card, or a heartfelt message on Facebook.
She had many exciting and loving memories with her husband of 35 years, Thomas A. Kegelman. Kim was the proud mother of her two boys, Michael and Cody, who were her greatest joy and whom she supported in every way imaginable. Facing the ultimate challenge of any parent, Kim weathered losing Cody at the age of 14 in a tragic accident. She included him always as time went on, never letting him be forgotten.
She worked for DuPont for 35 years in the labeling department. Kim was instrumental in her department's global work the last few years before she retired. She retired in 2018 and has many close friends from her days at work.
A passionate sports lover, she held steadfast in her loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys, despite being surrounded by a family of Eagles fans. Though her allegiance sparked friendly rivalry, it was always good fun, a testament to her spirited nature. She was also a loyal Phillies fan and Notre Dame follower as well!!
The sun was her sanctuary, be it at the beach or her backyard pool, she felt most at peace. Basking in the sun was her place of joy and reflection. At home, she found solace in her "Cody Garden," a special place where she nurtured flowers, vegetables, and memories alike. Many friends and family benefited from her famous summer tomato supply!
Kim leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and boundless love. She was predeceased by both her parents Dolores and Paul Dougherty, her brother Glenn Dougherty, and her son Cody Kegelman. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Tom, her son, Michael, her siblings, Paul and Diane, and her countless in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were lucky enough to know her.
Though her time with us was far too short, her love will remain in our hearts forever. In her honor, we will cheer a little louder, love a little harder, and never, ever forget a birthday.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 905 New Rd., Wilm., DE 19805, on Tuesday, March 11 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the church from 9:00am-11:00am. Interment will follow Mass at Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kim's name to a charity dear to your heart.
