Lawrence A. Zappaterrini

Wilmington - Age 77, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Christiana Hospital with his family at his side.

Larry was the son of the late Benjamin and Teresa (Kubec) Zappaterrini. He was born in Wilmington on November 8, 1940, and was a graduate of St. Thomas the Apostle School and Salesianum School. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1958-1964. He married Mary Ann Ramone on September 11, 1965, and raised three children. He was the proud grandfather of Ava.

Larry was a truck driver for over 50 years. He loved baking, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and teaching people to fish. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed any and all sports.

More than anything, Larry loved it when his entire family ate dinner around his table.

Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Williams, his niece, Anne Williams, and his brother-in-law, Francis Ramone.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Ramone Zappaterrini; his daughter, Christine Zappaterrini; his sons, Lawrence, Jr., and his wife, April, and Francis, and his wife, Sara; his granddaughter, Ava; his sister, Kathleen Zappaterrini Milligan, and her husband, Jack; his brother, David Zappaterrini, and his wife, Flo; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Cathie Ramone, Linda Ramone, and Richard Williams; his uncle, Al Crisconi; his lifetime friend, Charles Lestardo; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Service on Monday, March 5, at 12 noon at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am to 12 noon. Interment will be private.
