Lewis Preole Orchard, 3rd
Age 61, who grew up in Berlin, NJ, died on December 31, 2011 from complications during treatment for leukemia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis, Jr. and sister, Ruth Morrison. Lewis is survived by his wife, Susan, of 39 years; son, Lewis 4th and his wife Erin; daughters, Elizabeth and Stephanie; grandchildren, Lewis V, and Emily; mother, Whilda; mother-in-law, Margaret Hesel; and dog, Scout.
Lewis is an Eagle Scout and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He received his PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a gregarious chef, visionary, inventor, entrepreneur, philosopher, and philanthropist.
A Quaker Memorial Service will be on January 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Parrish House, 100 Harmony in Historic New Castle, DE.
