Louis J. Camelli

Of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the age of 81.

Louie was born and lived in New Castle all of his life. He was a hard working family man, who enjoyed his retirement years just being at home with his family watching his favorite cartoons with his grandchildren. He welcomed everyone into his home.

He liked traveling to Florida to visit his daughter, Patti and her family. Getting his picture taken with all the Disney characters was a must. He especially looked forward to summer vacations in Atlantic City (before casinos) and Wildwood.

He was one of the original stockholders of St. Anthony's Club in New Castle and has been a devoted member ever since. One of his favorite past times was playing cards with his Italian buddies at the club.

Our dad loved to walk. He would be seen on many a nice day walking up Basin Road to the Penn Mart Shopping Center.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Hurd) Camelli. They would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on the 26th of December. He is survived by his sister, Helen Daniels; daughter, Shirley Octavio and husband Robert, daughter, Carol Nepi and husband John, daughter, Patti Eynon and husband John; grandchildren, Stephanie Octavio, Robert Octavio, Jr. and his wife Kristen, Kelly Tracey and Amy Nepi, Nicholas Matthew and Courtney Eynon; great grandchildren, Santino Francesca and Annunziatta Octavio, and Mckenzie Brewster.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter R. C. Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle on Monday, December 14th at 10 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen Funeral Home, 34 West 6th St., New Castle on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle.
