Obituary

Margaret C. Larry
(De Ascanis)
"Marge"

Born January 6, 1915 died peacefully at home on September 2, 2011 at the age of 96.
Marge grew up in the Little Italy area of Wilmington and in her younger days could be seen working in her parents' Italian grocery store on Lincoln Street. She was a people person and took great pride in serving the public at Mullin's and Kennard's where she worked for many years in downtown Wilmington. Her greatest pride and joy was her family and extending her warm hospitality to everyone who visited. She was a marvelous cook and could set a table laden with all kinds of Italian treats at a moment's notice. She loved to dance and sing and could not pass a piano without stopping to play an old favorite tune or two. She was a devout Catholic and a volunteer and member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary (Sylvester) De Ascanis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. (Tony) Larry to whom she was married for 68 years; her brother, Leon; and her sisters, Dora E. Vicario, and Mary R. Jackson. She is survived by her son, Rev. Anthony J. Larry, OSFS of Childs, MD; and her daughters, Margaret M. Bilecki and her husband Milton of New Castle, and Sara A. Watson and her husband Bob; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle on Wednesday, September 7th at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Interment in All Saints Cemetery.
