Marie E. Wilson
Age 84, of New Castle, DE, passed away June 7, 2012 after a long courageous battle. She is finally at peace with her husband of 61 years, Clayton D. Wilson and her daughter, Donna M. Maguire who both preceded her in death in 2010.
Born in Carbondale, PA, daughter of the late Frank and Frances Arnese Vadala, she was a graduate of Ben Franklin H.S and proudly operated Marie's Lunch Service before raising her family. She was most proud of her contributions to her community as a St. Francis Junior Board Volunteer for over 25 years and a Boys & Girls Club mentor; and to St. Peter's N.C. Parish as the Social Hall Coordinator, Eucharistic Minister, BVM Sodality, Samaritan driver, former St. Peter's Workforce Secretary, St. Peter's High School Librarian 1964-69, and various other church planning committees. Marie's passions included her family, Red Hat Ladies, swimming, reading, and volunteering for almost anything. Until the end, she had devout faith, a feisty spirit, and endless courage and determination.
Marie is survived by her son, Eugene A. White and wife Diane of Bear; son-in-law Mick Maguire of New Castle; and step-son James Wilson and wife Lee of Wilmington. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shannon DeLucia, Jason Maguire, Lisa Garber, Carisa White Forrest, and Eric White; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are a brother, Frank Vadala; two sisters, Kay Werwinski and Judith Muia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Patrick Vadala, and sisters, Rosella Vadala, Frances Baffone, Dorothy Warren, Jean Knowles, Rita Ruddy, and Sandra Mosher.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's R.C. Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle, on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 10 am. Friends may call at St. Peter's R. C. Church on Tuesday evening, June 12, 2012 from 6-8 pm. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter's R. C. Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720.
