Martha E. Kempczynski
(Kaye)
Born in Wilmington on Feb. 18, 1924 to Marco and Emily (Bove) Cofrancesco. Martha was dedicated to her family. She was a great wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and all around family person. She was always trying to help others, especially her three sons and their families.
In her younger years she enjoyed shuffleboard and played on a few League Championship Teams in the Wilmington area. In later years she loved bingo and taking trips to Atlantic City. She also enjoyed watching the Phillies in person and on TV with our Dad. On Sundays and holidays she always cooked more than enough for family and friends that would stop by to visit. Her skills in the kitchen with Italian dishes as well as many other nationality meals gave her the reputation of being an excellent cook. We love her and will miss her dearly.
Martha was predeceased by her daughter, Baby Martha; husband, Joseph; sister, Mary Stevenson; and brother Alphonse Frank. She is survived by her three sons, Joseph (Kaye) Kempczynski, Jr., Tommy Kaye and wife Maria, John Kempczynski; and her grandchildren, Joseph Kempczynski, III, Steven Kempczynski and wife Kristin, Michele O'Brien and husband Rory, Alicia Compton and husband Brian, Christian Kaye and wife Nicole, and Michael Anthony. Also, her three great grandsons, River, Cole, and Vinnie; her sister, Anne Dougherty; and sister-in-law, Hattie Battisto; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.
Martha was a lifelong member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
