Mary Jane Grant
Died Sunday, March 4, 2012.
Born in New Castle on August 14, 1925.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane Logan Grant.
Mary Jane was a well known presence in the cities of New Castle and Wilmington. She walked and rode the bus just about everywhere. She worked for Woolworth's 5&10 and Wilmington Dry Goods for many years. She spent her later years at Luther Towers where she had many friends who looked out for her especially Lorraine Becker. She enjoyed being a volunteer for St. Patrick Senior Center and Luther Towers.
Although she never married, she is survived by several first cousins, Theresa Schiavi (Guido), Marie Boggs, Margaret Grant, James Grant, Susan Grant, Mary Lou Grant, Charles Grant (Eileen), Joan Roddy (Frank), Patricia Green (George), William Bradley, Robert Fuqua (Lois), Martin Grant (Carolyn), Jeannette Redecki, and Mary Menno (Paul).
"Aunt" Mary Jane is also survived by numerous "nieces" and "nephews". She willingly served as a Godmother to many. If you were ill she was always there to offer comfort.
Mary Jane belonged to the good people of this world.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter R. C. Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle, on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to St. Peter R. C. Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720, or Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19802.
