Mary E. (Willoughby) Nichols

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died on December 11, 2009 at her home in Richardson Park at the age of 91.

She was born in Denton, Maryland and moved to Wilmington around the age of two.

Mary attended Old Wilmington High School on Delaware Avenue. She worked at Woolworth's, 5th & Market Sts. in the 1930's. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Maryland Avenue and Boxwood Rd.

She was the wife of the late Ernest R. Nichols, Jr. who died August 31,1980.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cora Willoughby; infant son, Ross Lee (twin to Faye Taylor); sisters, Blanche Morgan, Louise Thornton, Agnes Painter, Beverly Riley, and Elizabeth Willoughby; and brothers, Aaron Willoughby, William Willoughby, and Lawrence Willoughby. She is survived by her son, Ronald R. Nichols and his wife Lois Anne; daughters, Patricia Bodan and her husband Stanley, Linda Smith, Faye Taylor; 9 grandchildren, Ronald Nichols, Jr., Glenn Nichols and his wife Maureen, Lori Davis, Michael Conley and his wife Danielle, Christopher Conley and his wife Karen, Matthew Smith and his wife Amy, Amy Kardash and her husband Eric, James D. Taylor Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Lauren Kable and her husband Kevin; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Newton Willoughby; sister-in-laws, Naomi Callahan, and Ruth Boylan; several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the chapel from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
