Matthew J. Schaal, 63 of Wilmington, DE, passed away on December 1, 2021.

Matt was born in Wilmington to Raymond A. Schaal, Jr. and Catherine (Kitty) Schaal on February 27, 1958. He was a graduate of Conrad High School.

He was a Life member of Elsmere Fire Co., and social member of VFW Post 2863. He was an avid Philadelphia Sports and UD Football fan. He enjoyed spending time with friends, crabbing, surf fishing, playing horseshoes, shuffleboard and watching sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Michael R. Schaal.

Matt is survived by his daughter, Madison R. Schaal and her mother, Maria L. Schaal; sisters, Carol B. Cool (Howard Jones), Lee S. Baines (Ronald); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy. Elsmere, DE on Monday, December 13, 2021, at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 am. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
