Michael E. McLaughlin
Age 63 of New Castle
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 18, 2015.
Michael was born on August 28, 1952 to the late Edward and Elizabeth (McGuckin) McLaughlin. He attended Salesianum School. Upon graduation, Michael continued his education at the University of Delaware. He served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve during the Vietnam Era. After earning his Masters in Public Administration, he began his life-long career working for the state of Delaware. He served in many different facets including Justice of the Peace and retiring as the Deputy Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts. Michael was also a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Castle.
His passions were restoring houses and woodworking. He also loved spending time at the beach with his family.
Michael will be dearly missed by his wife of 41 years, Susan Keenan McLaughlin; his son, Brian (Jennifer); his daughter, Erin (Mark); and four grandchildren, Abigail, Colin, Molly and Ethan. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Prucino (Jill), as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 5th and Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720, on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Interment will be in St. Peter's Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions to be made in Michael's name to St. Peter the Apostle Church or Goodwill Fire Co., 401 South St., New Castle, DE 19720.
