Passed away, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, after suffering from a stroke.
Naomi was the daughter of the late Ernest and Naomi Nichols.
She was a resident of Cleveland Avenue in Colonial Heights for more than 50 years. For the last three years she resided in Ingleside Homes.
Naomi was a graduate of Wilmington High School and spent her life as a loving homemaker. She will be remembered for many kindnesses to family, friends, and neighbors. Naomi was a proud member of Harrison Street and Silverbrook Methodist Churches. She enjoyed playing canasta and doing all kinds of puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward J. Callahan; her seven siblings; and two children, Mary C. Jones and Joseph M. Callahan.
Naomi is survived by daughters, Margaret Neville (Joseph) of Woodbridge, VA, Catherine Prevenas of Omaha, NE, Elaine Ryan (Ralph) of Bear, DE; sons, Edward, Jr. (Evelyn) of Wilmington, DE, Thomas (Marie) of Wilmington, DE, and Martin (Theri) of Brookhaven, PA; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her former daughters-in-law, Kathleen Callahan and Chantal Rhoads; three sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Naomi at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Monday, March 16 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30-11:00am. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Naomi's name to the Salvation Army, 400 N Orange St, Wilmington, DE 19801, Bepostive.org, or a charity of your choice.
