Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Nicolas Lino Brounce on May 25, 2026.

Nick was born in Wilmington on December 31, 1998 to Thomas and Cristina (Fraiz) Brounce. Although his life was too short, he lived it to the fullest and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Nicolas was a proud graduate of Salesianum School, class of 2017. He loved his time at Sallies. He never forgot the many friends and memories he made there, both of which helped shape the man he became.

He was a talented musician with a deep love of music. His musical journey began at 9 years old when he first picked up the trumpet and continued through college and beyond. During his time at the University of Delaware, he helped found the Music Production Club, serving as its president his senior year. Even after graduation, he stayed connected to the club by mentoring students and leading workshops. Nick was a talented artist and created his own music which will continue to be heard on both Spotify and Apple Music.

Nick graduated from the University of Delaware in 2022 with a BA in Psychology. He chose to follow in his mother's footsteps and pursue a career in banking. At the time of his passing, he was working as a compliance analyst at Continental Finance.

Nick loved football but most especially, he loved the Philadelphia Eagles. He belonged to the half-crazed, obnoxious, die-hard Eagles fan group (Go Birds!). He would say that the greatest day of his life was Feb. 4, 2018 - Super Bowl LII. He even talked about getting an LII tattoo, much to his mother's chagrin. Then again, Nick had many "greatest days of his life".

While he was serious about football, he was even worse when it came to Fantasy Football. He managed his fantasy football teams like some people manage a stock portfolio. From the start of football season until Superbowl Sunday, everyone knew he would be busy whenever a game was on.

Nick loved to travel. Whenever he could, he would visit cities throughout the US and internationally. From Barcelona to New Orleans, Amsterdam to Williamsburg, he found joy in the different cultures and experiences.

He had the quirkiest sense of humor. He could bring a smile or laugh to anyone lucky enough to be near him. His love of fashion was well-known. He had his own unique style and he selected every article of his clothing with care and delight.

He was an avid golfer. On nice days, after work, you could find him at the driving range practicing his swing. He'd be the first to tell you that 'he stunk' but that didn't stop him from enjoying the game. One of his favorite summer pass times was spending the day at the golf course with his best friends, Mike and Conner.

Nick was in love. There's nothing he loved more than just being with his soul-mate, Holly (even more than football). Whether it was going out to dinner or a quiet night at home, as long as he was with Holly, he was a happy man. "She's The One" he would say.

Nick loved his family deeply. He never missed a holiday or birthday and called or texted (mostly goofy things) every single day. He loved family vacations, spending time on the lake, kayaking, pretty much anything as long as we were all together. It was rare to go more than a week without seeing him. He was especially close to his brother Tommy. Even though they were born 5 years apart, they did everything together.

Nick is survived by his parents, Thomas & Cristina Brounce, his brother Thomas, his Abuela, Celia Fraiz, his Tia Lucy Nowasielski, who he had a very special relationship with and by his soul mate, Holly Rhymes. He is also survived by his Aunt Jillian (Larry) Jones, Uncles Aaron and Adam Brounce and cousins Madison Brounce, Jared Nowasielski, Noah and Keegan Jones. He was preceded in death by his Abuelo, Claudino Fraiz, grandfather Thomas Brounce and grandmother Marjorie (Lovett) Brounce. He also leaves behind his sweet dog, Ashington and his fish, Reggie.

Relatives and friends are invited to call for visitation at Krienen-Griffith Funeral home in Elsmere on Monday, June 8 from 10am-12pm. His funeral mass will follow at 12:30 at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery on Kirkwood Highway.

"If there was no love, there would be no grief...and though it breaks us, it is also the greatest reminder that we were lucky enough to love someone worth missing forever."
