Owen James
Margist
Dec 25, 2021 — Jun 19, 2026
Owen James Margist passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026 in the arms of his mother at the age of 4, following a life long battle with lung disease.
Owen was born in Newark, Delaware on December 25th, 2021. He was tiny but mighty, and didn’t let his inability to walk stop him from getting to where he wanted to go. He took on any battle that came his way, whether it was rolling around to find his favorite toy or fighting off a virus in the hospital. He did all things with a smile on his face and the sweetest laugh. Owen was also well known for his soothing hugs and cuddles and an occasional sweet pat on the back. He quickly became a favorite on the cardiac floor of Nemours Children’s Hospital where he spent much of his time and was often affectionately regarded as feisty. Even after countless surgeries and procedures, Owen truly loved his life and appreciated the simplest things. He loved to play his piano or any musical instrument he could find. He made all sorts of sounds that let you know he was nearby that were sure to make you laugh. All of these things brought him an abundance of joy, however, nothing made him happier than seeing his big sister. He loved her more than anything else in the world and will always be her “Owie Bowie.”
Owen’s memory will forever be cherished by his mama, Jeanine, his big sister Olivia, his uncles Matt and Johnny, his aunt Gina, his cousin Anthony, his great aunts Lisa and Diane and his great uncle “Pop”. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather James, his great grandmother (Gigi) Virginia, and his great uncle Jim. Owen was also loved by many second and third cousins and friends.
