Obituary

Paul F. Bernardo, 90, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on January 16, 2025, in the comfort of his loving family.
Paul was born on June 15, 1934, to the late Vincent and Mary (Cannone) Bernardo. He was a 1953 graduate of Wilmington High School. He began his career as a master plasterer with Marianelli and Sons and in 1960 he started with the DuPont Company in the General Services Department, retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. Paul continued his profession with Paul's Plastering until 1999.
The most important thing in Paul's life was being surrounded by his family and his favorite job was being a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He cherished spending their time together especially the family dinners, celebrations and vacations at the Delaware beaches. His sense of humor made many memories with such sayings to his family, "You'll just have to get glad again" and "It's the best I had today." He was a beacon to his children and grandchildren enlightening them with his words of wisdom and encouragement.
Paul was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of Corpus Christi Church. He was an avid bowler and President of the DuPont Employees Bowling Association. He also enjoyed watching old time movies, working out at Claymore Senior Center, making his unique gift boxes and rooting for the Phillies. His kindness and fun-loving spirit made memorable moments for the many who knew him. Paul was the family patriarch who will be sorely missed by his family and many nieces and nephews.
Paul is survived by his loving caring wife of 68 years Arleen (Dorazio), his children Paula Facciolo, Sharon Norris (Rick), John (Rosemary) and Jerry; his grandchildren Melissa, Anthony and Mark Facciolo; Amber Kramedas Bernardo (Mike Carr); Zachary (Amanda), Justin (Samantha) and Madelynn Norris; Elizabeth Bernardo; and a great grandson, Jaden.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers Vincent, Nicky and Richard, and his son-in-law John Facciolo.
