Paul "Midge" Mahoney
Age 90 of Wilmington

A lifelong, 90-year resident of the 40 Acres community of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, at his daughter's home in Milton, DE.

Paul was a faithful, lifelong member of St. Ann's Church, Wilmington, a graduate of St. Ann's School and proud alumnae of Salesianum, class of 1952.

His career in purchasing began with 13 years at NVF Co., Followed by 3 years at the former Briggs Rubber and Hose CO. and ending with 36 years of service as Purchasing Manager of the City of Wilmington.

During his lifetime, Paul, an avid sports fan, coached girls' CYO basketball at St. Ann's. He also served as past president of the Purchasing Managers Association of DE, faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Bishop Fitzmorris Assembly, and winning pitcher of the men's softball industrial league. He was an active and current member of the Irish Culture Club and New Castle County Irish Society.

Paul will be best remembered for his gentle spirit, kind nature, and devotion to family and the Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Cassie (Bryne) Mahoney; his wife, Jane; his sister, Pauline; brother, George; and great granddaughter, Caitlin Christopher.

He is survived by his daughter, Michele Christopher; son, Paul; grandsons, Eric Christopher (Monica) and David Christopher (Jennifer); and five lively great grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Claire, Carson, and Amelia Christopher; as well as his nephews, Chuck and David Haney.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wed., Oct 30 from 10:00am-11:00am. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at St. Ann's Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave., Wilm., DE, at 11:30am followed by burial at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
