Peter A. Cooper, 83, passed away August 27, 2023, at his residence in Wilmington, DE.
Mr. Cooper, son of the late Edward and Yolanda (Porcellini) was born in New York, NY on March 2, 1940.
Mr. Cooper joined the NYC Police Force in 1962 and retired after 20 years as a Detective. He also proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from January 2, 1964 – December 27, 1965. He received the Vietnam Service Medal. He was an avid softball player and Mets fan.
Mr. Cooper was predeceased by his beloved wife Ada in 2021, his aunts Irene, Grace, Marie, Eleanor and Elizabeth (Sis) his uncles, Dominic (Patsy), Sylvio, Donato (Danny), Anthony, Mario, Rudolph (Vinnie) and James.
He is survived by his children, Laura Leigh Sirico, Patricia Pietrantonio and Peter, Jr. His beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Sophia, his brother Edward Cooper and sister Diane Lanigan, his former wife, mother of his children, Joan Cooper, and his beloved cousins, godsons and nieces and nephews. Mr. Cooper is also survived by his late wife, Ada's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who were very dear to him.
Relatives and friends are invited attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved, 907 Milltown Rd. Wilmington, DE on Friday September 15, 2023, at 12 noon and are invited to call at the church from 10:30am-12:00pm to reminisce or say a few words about Peter.
Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetary, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear DE 19701, with full Military Honors on Monday September 18, 2023, at 11:00am
