Rachel L. (Esposito) Scarmozzi
Age 90, passed away on February 13, 2012 at her residence in New Castle, DE. She was born in Philadelphia on August 22, 1921 to Dominic and Lucy Esposito.
Rachel and her late husband, Peter, lived in New Castle their entire married life with their four children, Peter (Bo), Ray Ann, Catherine and Lucy. They loved their place at the beach and going to Disney World, as well as going out to breakfast after attending Mass at St. Peter's in New Castle. But most of all, they enjoyed spending time with family. They were never alone during their adult years. They both proudly served in the military during World War II, Rachel was a Sergeant in the WAC in 1942, and Peter as a soldier in the Army.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Peter in 2006; her mother and father; her sister, Carmela; brother, Louis Esposito; daughter, Lucy Reed; and grandson, Christopher Scarmozzi. She is survived by her children, Peter N. Scarmozzi (Sharon) of Bear, Ray Ann Thompson of New Castle with whom she resided, Catherine Scarmozzi Atkins of Millsboro, and Dawn Rossin (Tom) of California. She will be sadly missed by her 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Angelina in Texas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church/New Castle, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at 12 noon. Friends may call at the church from 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday evening. Interment in the St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church Cemetery.
