Age 91, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

Ralph was born to the late Ralph J. and Gertrude (Bachman) McCafferty and was raised in Wilmington. He graduated from P.S. duPont High School in January, 1942. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in April, 1942, and served until February, 1946. His Pacific Theater service was with the VMF-214 (the Black Sheep Squadron). He also served briefly during the Korean War, in 1950-51.

He married Suzanne Megonigal on April 5, 1947. They were dedicated members of Elsmere Presbyterian Church since 1950.

Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne, in 2002. He is survived by his sons, Ralph C. McCafferty, and his wife, Candy, and Richard A. McCafferty, and his wife, Carol; his granddaughter, Shannon M. Brown, and her husband, Mike; and his great-granddaughter, Kiersten Brown.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Service for Ralph at Elsmere Presbyterian Church, 606 New Road, Elsmere, on Monday, June 8 at 1:30 pm. A viewing will take place at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, on Monday, June 8 from 11:00am -1:00pm. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
