Obituary

Regina "Jean" A. Touhey Murphy
Of New Castle, age 92, formerly of Yorklyn, DE, died March 6, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was an alumnus of Ursuline Academy class of 1936 and The University of Delaware in 1940. She was a social worker of children for adoption at the Catholic Welfare Guild (now Catholic Charities) of the Diocese of Wilmington and also worked for National Vulcanized Fiber in Yorklyn, before choosing to be a stay-at-home mom.
Jean was a lifelong member of St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church in New Castle. She was a member of St. Patrick's Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order, a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and volunteered a lot of her time through the years working with Brother Ronald at the Mary Mother of Hope House, a temporary haven for destitute, homeless women to help them for their future with dignity. She also volunteered at the Emmanuel Dining Room.
Jean is the daughter of the late Philip E. and Josephine A. (Dalin) Touhey. She is survived by her husband, John G. Murphy; her only daughter, Regina M. Olliver and her husband Michael; four grandchildren, Christina, Mary Beth and her fiance' Andrew Williams, Patrick, and Robert; and two great grandchildren, Hanna and Michael; two future great grandchildren, Jared and Sean Williams. Jean was one of eight children and is also survived by her sister, Eleanor F. Touhey.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to the Heartland Hospice staff, especially Desiree, Jeanaye, Lori, Paul, Courtney, Denise, Joan, and Dr. Larry Shusterman, for all their love and support.
Thank you also to Dr. Padmalingam for the loving care you provided to Mom for the past 35 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter R. C. Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday morning. Interment in St. Peter R. C. Church Cemetery, New Castle.
