Richard Heglund passed away on October 19, 2018.

He was born in Michigan to the late Mary and Nelson Heglund.

Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his career in the Navy, he moved to Wilmington, DE where he met and married his loving wife Joan. He owned and operated Interiors Unlimited until his retirement in 1995. His affiliations included the Order of the Alhambra, as well as the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan; brother Chuck; his grandson, Kevin McCormick and daughter-in-law, Kim Heglund.

He is survived by his children, Richard, Kathi, David, Eileen, Tom, and Joanie; grandchildren, Kristine, Richie, Katie, Suzanne, Jennifer, Laura, Jeremie, Joshua, Ryan, and Zachary; sisters, Cheryl Prowse, Marilyn Heglund and Julie Amthor; sister-in-law, Sharon and her husband, David Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 25 at 10 am at St. Thomas the Apostle R. C. Church, 4th and Bancroft Pkwy., Wilmington, DE. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE on Wednesday, October 24 from 6-8 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Richard's name to Wilmington Firefighter Association Local 1590, Wilmington Firefighter Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1132, Wilm., DE 19899.
