Richard D. Knudson
Age 79 of Claymont

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 19, 2025.

Rich was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Arnold and Mary T. (Lattanzio) Knudson.

He was a proud 1965 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He faithfully served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, serving in Germany. Richard was also a life member of Holy Rosary Parish.
Rich was a hard worker. He opened and operated his own accounts receivable business for many years. He also worked as a car salesman. He loved cultivating relationships with the public and helping them in any way he could.

Rich also loved to travel with his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed cruises and cherished his trips to Florida and Hilton Head.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Burciaga, and nephew, J.B. Burciaga.

Rich will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Loretta (Szczesiak) Knudson; his daughters, Robin Whitfield (Mark) and Andria Knudson; his son, Gregory Knudson; and his grandchildren Madison and Kyle. He is also survived by his sisters, Cindi Rebman (Bob) and Candy Gragg (Bob), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service for Rich at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE, on Monday, January 5 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Rich's name to Tunnel to Towers for injured veterans.
