Richard A. Peden
of New Castle

Passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 at the age of 89.

Richard was born one of nine children to the late William and Annetta (Richard) Peden. He grew up in New Castle and graduated in 1953 from St. Peter's High School. Richard joined the Army National Guard and began working at ICI. He was very proud of his over 30-year career as a chemist assistant.

In 1960 Richard married the love of his life, Margaret Barton. Together they shared 65 year of love and happiness raising their family.

Richard loved baseball. He played semi-pro in his youth and put his knowledge to good use, coaching many teams over the years. And every spring and summer he could be found cheering on his favorite team the San Francisco Giants. Richard was a kind man that loved animals especially his sweet dog, Maddie . But most of all Richard loved his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his eight siblings.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Peg; his children, Kelly McLean (Matt) and Michael Peden (Kristina); his grandchildren, Matthew (Nichole) and Sean; his great grandchildren, Hudson and Harper. He is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing will be held at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE 19720, on Tuesday, April 22 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. Burial will take place the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
