Sadly, on August 15, 2021, after a 2-year battle with cancer, Richard passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old.
Richard was born on August 14, 1946, in Wilmington, Delaware to the late James and Catherine (Susi) Pullan. He was one of thirteen children.
Richard was employed by the State of Delaware, Department of Transportation as a Project Field Control Supervisor for over 30 years. Prior to that, he served in the Delaware Army National Guard. After retirement, he enjoyed painting houses with his lifelong friend, Jack Celli.
He was an avid horseracing fan and visited many racetracks, but loved Delaware Park, where he developed close friendships. He was a member of St. Anthony's Italian Club in New Castle. He loved his Italian heritage and all of his family and friends who made those traditions so special. Those times he held so near and dear to his heart will never be forgotten as his memories will live on through his thousands and thousands of pictures he captured through the years.
He was predeceased in death by his siblings James, Walter, Philip and Betty, as well as his brother-in-law Bob.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Vivien Leslie Pullan, as well as his children, Deborah Sanna (David), Celeste Smith (Jim), Tracy Updyke (Rick), his grandchildren, Taylor, TJ, Andrew (Felicia), Evan, and Gavin, and his great grandchildren, Braydon and Lilo. He is also survived by his siblings, Rita, Bernadette, Joseph (Debby), Catherine, Felecine (Lew), Theresa, Bill, David and sister-in-law
Michaele, in addition to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 20 at 12:00 at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE. Friends may call at the church from 10-12. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park following mass.
