Obituary

Richard Bruce Watson, Jr.

Age 71 of Middletown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 2, 2024.

Bruce was born in Wilmington to the late Richard and Margaret (Houston) Watson. He grew up in the Wood Crest area attending Krebs School and graduating in 1970 from Conrad High School. He was a dedicated employee for Chrysler for over 30 years before his retirement.

Bruce was the ultimate outdoorsman. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. Some of his favorite memories are fishing on Silverlake in Dover and his annual Florida fishing trips with Joe, JeBe, and Myron. He also loved to eat seafood, his favorites being clams casino, and lobster stuffed with crab imperial . He enjoyed trying any new seafood restaurant, but Feby's, Shaffers, Chesapeake Inn, and any spot with a place to watch the water held a special place in his heart.

Bruce loved his mini golden doodle, Skippy, who was truly man's best friend. But more then anything, Bruce loved his family. He was a doting husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Elizabeth Dunkelberger and William Watson.

Bruce will be dearly missed by his wife of 24 years, Patty Watson; his children, Kelly Watson-Williams (Michael), Paul Cicamore (Dana) and Anthony Cicamore (Lianne); his grandchildren, Lauren Watson, Mackenzie Murray, Thomas Murray, Sophia Cicamore, Nico Cicamore, and Anthony Cicamore Jr. He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret Watson, John Watson, Helen Kitchen, and George Watson; his brother-in-law, James Gott (Rebecca); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd., Bear DE, on Thursday, March 7, at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will follow mass at All Saints Cemetery.
