Passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021 just one day shy of his 86th birthday.
Bob was a native Delawarean, living in Wilmington most of his life. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Maureen Elleni. Together they spent 48 happy years raising a family. He was a real estate broker and property manager until his retirement. Bob was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus serving 3rd degree with Blessed Sacrament Council and 4th degree with Cardinal Gibbons Assembly. He was involved in numerous charitable services through Knights of Columbus and served as the State Deputy in 1974-75.
Bob was an avid boater and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his cottage on the Indian River. He was a member of the IRWSC boat club in Riverdale, DE for over 40 years and served as both Fleet Captain and Vice Commodore. After retirement, Bob enjoyed spending his winters in Deer Field Beach, FL.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen, in 2004, and brothers, Charles, Willis, and Elmer.
He is survived by his children, Robert Burris (Peggy) and Cathy Burris (Mark); his grandchildren, Heidi (Jake) and Kristopher; and great-grandchildren, Kristopher John and Nicolas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena, 2503 Centerville Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, on February 22, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 a mask mandate and 6ft social distancing will be enforced.
