Robert E. DelCollo

Of Long Neck, DE (formerly of Hockessin DE) passed away at his home peacefully early Saturday morning October 3, 2009 at the age of 77.

Robert was born in Wilmington, DE on June 22, 1932 to Daniel & Mary (Friel) DelCollo.

Graduate from Brown Vocational HS as a carpenter and worked for the JA Bader Company on the construction of the Salesianum HS in Wilmington, DE.

Served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 with the Atomic Energy Commission during the Korean Conflict on the Island of Eniwetok Atol, Marshall Island in the Pacific.

He served as President and CEO of Brandywine Lock & Safe Co. from 1972 to 1986.

His service to the Knights of Columbus spans 40 years. He joined the Blessed Sacrament Council in Elsmere, DE in the early 60's and eventually served the post of Grand Knight for 2 terms. In 1975 Bob and his family moved to Hockessin DE, where he was the charter member and Grand Knight of the Coffee Run Council @ St. Mary's The Assumption Church for 2 terms. In 1980 Bob was elected State Deputy.

Bob is predeceased by his son Robert J. DelCollo; parents Daniel & Mary DelCollo; sister Margaret Breslin; brother Donald and his wife Rosemary DelCollo; his in-laws Harry & Stella (Hazewski) Alexander.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years Barbara (Alexander) DelCollo; his daughter-in-law Jane DelCollo and grandchildren Andrea, Jonathan, & Ellen; his son John D. DelCollo & wife Catherine; his son Thomas H. DelCollo and grandchildren Alexandra & TJ; his daughter Kathleen Moser & husband Robert and grandchildren Courtney, Gabriel & Garrett; his daughter Kathiann DelCollo and son Jordan as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption, Hockessin on Friday, October 9th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Thursday evening, October 8th from 6 to 8 pm. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
