Robert "Bob" H. Furness

Age 88, recently of Rehoboth Beach passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Franciscan Care Center.

Bob grew up in the Richardson Park area and attended HC Conrad High School. He left school to become a carpenter. When WW II started, he enlisted in the Navy and served our country until after the war was over.

Bob was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and a friend, and was much loved by all of us. Bob was a builder and electrician. He truly enjoyed fixing things - anything. He was a member of the IBEW and belonged to the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed traveling with his wife of 67 years, Till.

Bob was the son of the late Robert and Sara Furness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian; his brothers, Peter and Joe; and his sisters, Mary and Dot. He is survived by five children, Nancy McGinnis, and her husband, Harry, Harry Furness, Rob Furness, and his wife, Debbie, Dan Furness, and his wife, Kathy, Joe Furness, and his wife Kathy; his nine grandchildren, Kim Gardner, Melissa Gardner, Andrew Furness, Abigail Cimorelli, Kristen Trainor, Kevin Nolan, Stephen Furness, Danielle Furness, and Brianna Furness; his three great-grandchildren, Kiya, Kira, and Erin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, on Saturday, March 23 at 10:30 am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday morning. Interment in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.
