Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 9, 2024.
Rosemarie was born on September 27, 1930, to the late John and Hedwig (Burkhardt) Winsel. She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware attending St. Thomas Elementary School and was a proud graduate of Ursaline Academy. After graduation she went to work for DuPont where she met the love of her life, Wendell Onley. They were married in 1954 and together shared many happy years together raising their family. When her children entered school, Rosemarie rejoined the work force and was employed at Sears for many years.
Rosemarie was a devout Catholic and daily communicant. She was a lifetime member of the St. Matthew's and Corpus Christi Parish. She was proud of her German heritage and was a member of Delaware Saengerbund where she participated in the choir.
Rosemarie had a gift for gardening and could always make plants flourish. She enjoyed bowling and was in a league for many years when she was younger. Rosemarie also enjoyed playing shuffleboard at the local senior centers. Rosemarie loved to travel to Fenwick Island and Hobe Sound, FL., where she cherished time spent with family and friends. But most of all Rosemarie loved being a mother. Her warm, kind, and sweet demeaner will be truly missed by all that knew her.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful Angels who took care of Rosemarie during her last several years allowing her to stay at home; especially, Alice, Carla, Candice, Gerri, Jennifer, Jennie, Mary and many others who gave their time and care to our mom and grandmother. Rosemarie was here because you all cared and loved her as your own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Onley, and her grandson, Mitchell.
