Rosemary (Cattivera) McClain passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 8, 1934, in Monaca, PA.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Michael, and children, Michelle, Karen Johnstone (Russell), Michael, Jr. (Patricia), Mary J. Middleton, Patrick (Cecilia), Brian (Christy) and Colleen Holstein (Greg). In addition, she is survived by her brother Joe, 16 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter Deborah, her parents, Helen and Hugo Cattivera and her sister, Jackie.
Rosemary graduated from Beaver Valley General Hospital School of Nursing, New Brighton, PA in 1955. After marrying Mick, she took a hiatus from nursing to raise her seven children. In 1967, Rosemary and her family moved from Monaca, PA to New Castle, DE. During those years, her home was always filled with her children and their friends. She returned to nursing part-time at St. Francis for several years and then volunteered in the Gift Shop. She was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in New Castle.
Rosemary enjoyed traveling nationwide through the years to her children's sporting events, cruises to Hawaii and the Caribbean, summer vacations in Bethany Beach and wintering in Key Largo and Clearwater, FL.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 30, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A viewing and mass will be held on Thursday, October 31, at St. Peter's Catholic Church beginning at 9:30. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
