Obituary

Rudy Paladnietti age 98, passed away on Sunday, May 10 at Christiana Hospital.
Rudy was born in Germany and came to the United States at a young age with his father, Dominico and younger brother Ralph. He helped build their house in Holloway Terrace. He served with the 37th Infantry during World War II and later with Delaware Air National Guard. He fell in love with Margaret Proud of Old New Castle and built her a home in Baldton. He worked for Colonial School District doing many jobs; custodian, maintenance and bus driver.
Rudy was a devoted family man. He coached his son in New Castle Little League and later would cheer his grandsons and great grandsons at their games. He shared many Wildwood vacations with Margaret's family. He was the Best Man at his son's wedding and in life.
He had many talents; wood carving, stain glass lights and art, gardening and excellent cook!He enjoyed many activities; bowling, car shows, collecting, Delaware Park and traveling. A long time season ticket holder/tailgater fan of Blue Hens Football starting with Margaret then son, grandsons, great grandsons and friends he made along the way. He could also be seen driving around town with his best friend and neighbor, Tommy Nolan his guardian angel.
He lived a full life able to drive and live independently.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret. His son-in-law, Peter Hurd Sr. and his brother Ralph. He has survived by his daughter, Connie Hurd,his son, Rudy and daughter-in-law Lynn. His grandchildren, Peter Hurd Jr. (Lisa), Steven (Kelie), great grandchildren, Drew, Stevie, Tyler and Alyssa. His brothers, Albert, Anthony and sister, Carolyn DiMauro. His dog, Buttons will be missing her loving master.
Due to Covid-19 all services must be private.We thank family and friends for sharing their memories with us by texts, calls, cards and social distance visits. They were truly heartwarming.
