passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Born to the late Harry and Lydia Lafferty, Ruth grew up in Philadelphia during the Great Depression before graduating from Overbrook High School in 1943. In her youth, she loved spending summers in Wildwood. After a fruitful period as a stay at home mom, she worked for over two decades at Sears. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, mystery novels, crochet, card games, and travel. Most of all, Ruth will be remembered as a loving, resilient woman who cherished her family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son Dr. Jay Peacock and her sister Lois Chambers. She is survived by sons Roy (Phyllis, deceased), Brett, and Gary; daughter-in-law Sue Gibbons; grandsons Kevin (Jamie), Brian, and Alex; and cousins, nephews, and a niece.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kentmere Nursing Home for their extraordinarily kind care during the last chapter of her life.
