Ruthann Ryan (91) of Wilmington DE passed away peacefully on November 10,2024. Daughter of Ada and William Sutton, Ruthann was the fourth of the eight Sutton children that included Russell, Shirley, Phyllis, Ronald, Millicent, Roger and Rosemary.

Ruthann found her soulmate, Joseph Ryan at a city hosted youth event at Baynard Stadium in the fall of 1947. They married in 1955 and spent 64 years inseparable until Joseph's passing in 2019. Together, they raised four children; Harry (Jeanne), Tim who passed away in 2009, Carolee (Rocky) Giannetta and Christopher.

Ruth's family has grown with the addition of eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Ruth loved being outdoors and remained active throughout her life playing tennis, golf (with a hole-in-one on #9 at Delcastle) and later taking long walks around Rockford Tower and Brandywine Park with her beloved Joe.

Ruth's legacy is one of love and laughter with Joe by her side. Ruth's support and devotion to her family were unmatched. In later years, the stories and photographs of those days lifted her spirit and reminded her of a life well-lived.

The family invites friends to gather and share memories in honor of Ruthann at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE, on Tuesday, Nov 19 from 10:00 am -11:30 am. The celebration of life service will begin at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
