Sandra J. McNally passed away on October 24. She was 86.
Nothing was more important to Sandy than family and faith. By her own account, she married the man of her dreams, John (Jack) King McNally, in June 1957, and four children soon followed. She was a devout catholic and a member of St. Peter the Apostle RCC.
Sandy left her position at the Colonial School District in 1990 so that she and Jack could spend more time with their grandchildren. She returned to the workforce as her grandchildren grew, managing the cafeteria at St. Peter's School where she continued to watch over her family.
Sandy did not travel the globe; she was happiest at her home "the house that Jack built" in New Castle. She did not eat at fine dining restaurants, preferring her own cooking or the occasional Bobbie from Capriottis or dinner at Portofinos following Saturday evening mass. She did not surround herself with influential people but influenced the lives of many. She lived a simple life and felt very blessed.
Sandy lost Jack in October 2003. She is survived by her son John(Joy), of New Castle, daughter Barbara Strickland of Ft. Myers, FL, son Jim(Kathy) of Greenbackville, VA, and daughter Liz Walsh(Doug) of New Castle. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her brother, Richard Jones and his wife, Sandy, of Felton, DE survive her as well as brother- and sister-in-law, Francis and Frances McNally of New Castle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Wilda Jones, her sister, Beverly Tweed (Spike), brother, Dave Jones (Sally) and granddaughter, Bethany McNally.
Visitation will take place at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE, on Wed., Oct 30 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Service and burial will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Sandy's name to St. Peter's Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720.
