Shirley C. Bunner

Age 87 of Newark
Passed away peacefully on May 5, 2017.
Shirley was born and raised in Connecticut. She also lived in New York, Vermont and Pennsylvania all before settling in New Castle County in 1956. Shirley was a hard working women working in a variety of retail stores including, J C Penny's, Ronson, Avon, and finally retiring from Pathmark.
Shirley was a lover of all sports. She enjoyed watching golf, football, and bowling. However Shirley's true love was baseball. She always enjoy her annual trips to Clearwater, FL to watch her beloved Phillies in Spring Training. In later years when the traveling became too much, her love of the game did not diminish. Shirley became a proud season ticket holder of the Wilmington Blue Rocks and made it to almost every game. When Shirley wasn't at the ball park she loved spending time with her family as well as knitting and crocheting
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L "Roy" Bunner.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her children, Leona "Lee" Malgiero (Anthony) and Glen Bunner (Marie); her grandchildren, Elva Gill (Gary Hensley), Mike Dunall (Colleen Smith), Anthony Malgiero (Alicia Cordora), Carmen Malgiero (Gil Matthews), Kiaia Malgiero, Brian Bunner, Shawn Bunner, Ashley Gollahon (Tyler Gollahon); and her 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Crane (Elizabeth), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank the Little Sisters of the Poor and Seasons Hospice for the excellent care given to Shirley during her illness.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the service for Shirley at the Little Sisters of the Poor Chapel, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, Delaware, 19713, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2:30 pm. A private burial will take place at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
