On September 7, 2021, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice, Wilmington Hospital, three weeks shy of her 82nd birthday. Shirley was the middle child of 11 children and a lifelong resident of Delaware.
Shirley cared deeply for her family and always provided love, support and "worried" enough for everyone.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, I. Robert (2002), daughter, Vicki (2013) and son, Michael (2017).
She will be greatly missed by her children, Donna Whitmarsh (Daniel), Charles Millis, Maryann Millis and Andrew Millis (Theresa); 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her sisters, Jane Winward, Janet Carter (Vernon); her brothers, Lewis Winward, Donald Winward (Claudia), and Dave Winward (Susan); and her sister-in-law, Mary Winward.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Shirley on Monday, September 13th at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, at 1:00 pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11-1pm. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Masks will be required indoors.
