Obituary
Stephanie J. Pfeil, age 96, of Elsmere passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Compassionate Care Hospice.
Stephanie was born in Ford City, PA the youngest of 9 children of Mikulas and Mary Dinus. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Ted, they moved to Delaware in 1940.
Stephanie was a dedicated employee of Wilmington Country Club. She loved being a banquet server and enjoyed every shift of her career. Stephanie was also proud to be a Girl Scout leader for many years.
She loved going to the Delaware Park and Atlantic City Casinos and always seemed to have luck on her side. Stephanie loved to travel and was always up for a trip. Her travels took her to, among other places, Hawaii, Florida, South Carolina and, of course, Las Vegas. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and Stephanie took great joy in hosting the traditional Slovak Christmas Eve dinners. She loved her family dearly and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Ted Pfeil; her son-in-law, Ron Simione; and granddaughter, Micki Smith.
Stephanie will be dearly missed by her daughters, Pat Simione and Teddie (Bill) Smith; her grandchildren, Mark (Michelle) Simione, Steve (Lauren) Simione, Andie (Keith) Orr, and BJ; and her great grandchildren, Rachel, Ben, Allison, Jenna, Ainsley, and Lily. She is also survived by her dear friend and neighbor David Matarese and her companion, Liz Berry.
The family would like to thank not only the staff of Compassionate Care but also the staff of Wilmington Hospital ER and the ACE unit on the 6th floor for their care. We would also like to thank the caregivers at Kentmere Healthcare, 1st Floor, for their care of Mom during the past 2 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Rd., Wilmington, DE 19805, on Saturday, April 7 at 10:30 am. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-10:30am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in Stephanie's name to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
