Stephen James
Grier
August 25, 1954 – March 5, 2026
Stephen Grier also know as Creature, passed away on March 5, 2026. A strong man and true fighter, he bravely beat cancer twice and was known for his strength, kindness, and big heart. He always gave to others and took nothing in return.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Grier, and his son, Michael Grier. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa, and her spouse Eddie Pacheco; his nephew Rob Stewart (Sue), whom he treated like a son; his beloved grandchildren, Chase Pacheco, Julianna Grier, Maria Grier, Eddie Pacheco Jr, Ben Pacheco, and Zach Pacheco, who were the pride and joy of his life; his siblings Karen Grier, John Grier (Marsha), Kathy Garrett (Bob), Kenny Grier (Kathleen), and Keith Grier (Ann); as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Stephen especially loved living with his grandson Chase and cherished watching him grow up. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and they meant the world to him. Stephen retired from the VA hospital after 42 years of service. He served in the army and was very proud of this accomplishment. He had many stories he shared and loved to be stationed in Hawaii. Stephen was proud to have served and would light up when speaking about it.
Stephen was well known for his love of sports, coaching youth baseball, umpiring, and volunteering with high school football teams, most recently at Woodbridge alongside Head Coach Marvin Dooley. He would go anywhere with Coach Dooley and the team.
He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who loved his family deeply and always meant well. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched. He will be greatly missed everyday.
