"Steve"


Age 62, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 25, 2009.

He was an artist. His passion was oil painting and he was driven to paint portraits. He enjoyed music, reading, coffee, Harleys, living at the beach, and innovative home improvements. He was a great dancer and loved meeting new people.

He retired from DART after 16 years of service. He considered many colleagues close friends. He had a special place for all of his passengers. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Bud" Walters and Jean Varney Walters; and also by his beloved dog, Caffie. He is survived by his only daughter, Wendi Bader and her husband John of Elkton, MD; two granddaughters, Lindsay and Elise Bader; two brothers, John K. Walters and his wife Lucy of Texas, and Charles Walters of North Carolina; and two sisters, Elden Pratt of New York, Maria Lange and her husband Jim Murphy of California. He also leaves behind a host of adoring nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at the Delaware Art Museum, 2301 Kentmere Pkwy., Wilmington on Thursday, July 30th at 7 p.m. Friends may call at the Delaware Art Museum Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment is private.
