Susan A. Birowski , age 57,
Passed away on Thurs¬day, July 31, 2014, due to a lengthy illness.
Born on January 12, 1957 in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Ed¬ward A. Birowski. Sue at¬tended St. Elizabeth High School and Goldey Beacom College. She was employed by E.I. DuPont for nearly eighteen years prior to her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Corpus Christi parish and the Notre Dame Club of Delaware. One of her favorite past times was composing poems for which she was recognized as one of the best amateur poets by the International Library of Poetry.
An avid sports fan, Sue was a tennis enthusiast and very passionate about Notre Dame Football. Her most treasured memories include visits to South Bend, IN and letters received from former Notre Dame Head coaches, Ara Parseghian, Lou Holtz, and Charlie Weis. A poem she wrote at age seventeen, dedicated to Coach Parseghian, eventu¬ally became part of Fighting Irish lore. Sue also wrote an article highlighting magi¬cal memories of the 1980's which appeared in the 1990 Notre Dame Football year-book. Despite adversity, the indomitable fighting spirit of ND provided incredible inspiration to Sue. She had a special affinity for Ireland, especially its culture and music.
She will always be remem-bered for her sense of hu¬mor, contagious laughter, uncanny memory, and being a true friend. A real animal lover, she genuinely cared for lost or homeless cats, and even adopted a few.
She is survived by her mother, Florence (Zarnoch) Birowski, who loved her so very much; brothers, Ed¬ward Birowski (Loretta) and John Birowski (Linda); and sister, Theresa Hayes (Bill); also several nieces and nephews. Her friends at Family Thrift in Stanton were near and dear to her heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian burial at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Road, Wilmington, DE 19805, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 12:00pm. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Burial will be pri-vate. In lieu of flowers, me-morial donations may be made to the Disabled Ameri-can Veterans, P.O.Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250, or Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Suite 4, Wilmington, De 19804.
