Passed last Saturday, May 14, 2011 a few days short of his 96th birthday.
Sylvester, Silver to his friends, was a decorated WWII combat veteran.
Originally from Kulpmont, Pennsylvania he moved his family here from residing mostly in Elsmere.
He was retired from the U.S. Post Office. Silver was an active member of the Elsmere Senior Center where he enjoyed playing billards and cards with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine; his sister, Mary; and his brothers, Joseph, Steven, and Frederick. Silver is survived by his children, John, Joanne, Michael; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R. C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere on Friday, May 20th at 10 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Thursday evening, May 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, Newark.
