Obituary

Thomas E. Geraghty was born on January 20, 1941, in Staten Island, NY, to Frank Geraghty, Jr, and Amelia (nee Beinert) Geraghty. Tom passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, in Wilmington, DE. He served in the Air Force in the 1960s, and he worked for Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. (later JP Morgan Chase) in New York, starting in 1958, and remained there for over 30 years. Following his retirement, Tom moved to Historic New Castle, DE, where he remained until his death.

During his time in New Castle, Tom created mosaic art, which was displayed and sold in several galleries. He also was a collector of rabbit figurines. Tom loved gardening and initiated the neighborhood container garden in front of his house. He always helped at the Arasapha Garden Club's May Market. Tom was also part of the group that started the annual 4th Street block parties and New Year's Eve progressive dinners.

In 2010, Tom married his partner, the late Seymour Maurer, with whom he had shared a loving relationship since 1972. They enjoyed classical music and opera, gardening, a love of fine food, and many pets. They visited many museums and galleries in some of the greatest cities of the world. Tom's last trip was to Venice a couple of years ago. He was accompanied by his cousin, Alice Jean Dodson.

In addition to Ms. Dodson, Tom is survived by a sister, Patricia Leggiadro; a nephew, Michael Leggiadro,; nieces Christine Leggiadro Wible, Tara Leggiardo Brennan, Jane Bretzfield Cornett, and Anne Bretzfield Ostroff; his former wife, Barbara Geraghty; many loving friends; and his adored cat, Mia.

No service is planned at this time, but a Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.
