Thomas J. O'Connell age 69 of Bear

Passed away on May 10, 2024.

Tom was born in Wilmington to the late Joseph and Frances (Ward) O'Connell. He graduated from Delcastle High School. He worked in printing before moving onto warehouse work.

Tom was a huge Philadelphia sports fan. He also loved music (especially the Beatles) and theater. He enjoyed singing and performing onstage almost as much as being in the audience. Tom worked with many local theater groups including The Brandywiners, Wilmington Drama League, Reedy Point Players, and the Delaware Children's Theatre. Tom also lent his talents to the Diocese of Wilmington over the years as a cantor (most recently for Corpus Christi Church).

Tom had an amazing sense of humor and loved to laugh along with all his favorite TV shows and movies. His smile, laugh, and giving nature will be truly missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph O'Connell Jr and Mary Mezzatesta.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon Reverdito O'Connell, and their beloved cat, Sheldon. Tom is also survived by his daughter, Sarah Rhoads; his siblings, Elaine Weber and John O'Connell; his parents-in-law, Joe and Geralyn Facciolo; and sister-in-law, Nicole Facciolo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE, on Thursday, May 16 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the church from 9:30am-10:30am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made to The Delaware Children's Theatre, 1014 Delaware Ave, Wilmington, DE 19806.
